Atom and Luna AR nominated for a Digital Media Award at Prix Europa

We can’t tell you how excited we all are to announce that ATOM AND LUNA has been nominated for a prestigious Digital Media Award at Prix Europa, the most influential pan- European week-long  broadcasting festival which features and awards the best European television-, radio- and digital media productions with the aim of publicising them throughout Europe

Along with our digital partners MBD Ltd we’ll be heading to Pottsdam (Germany) 12 to 15th October to present our work, see other creatives work from across Europe and to attend the awards ceremony!  Wish us luck!!

The award is primarily in recognition of our work on Chronicle 2 - Quest for Old Mother Redbeard which is our AR story game.  If you’ve not tried it yet now is a very good time to have a go!  Its simple and easy to download from either the Apple Store of Google Play Store (just search Atom and Luna).  Here’s a quick and easy how to tutorial:

On hearing about the nomination Murray said ‘From just before lockdown I became fascinated with the potential of AR as a storytelling tool, so I’m delighted that our first foray into harnessing that power  - The Quest for Old Mother Redbeard has been recognised by the judges of Prix Europa.  I think of Quest as a kind of traditional story telling ballad told digitally where players get to go ahead of our heroes Atom and Luna into a mystical forest which comes to life wherever they are!  Ultimately I am interested in inspiring in young people a love of language, of storytelling, of rhyme and rhythm and what better way to do that then by using tech.’

Paul Long of MBD Ltd added We’re delighted our work with Murray, Paul and the Funnelwick Limb team has been recognised in this way!  Developing Quest for Old Mother Redbeard in AR fed our passion for bringing stories to life using a rich blend of art and technology and sits really well amongst our other work in Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and immersive projection.’

Quest for Old Mother Redbeard was commissioned by The Space – a unique digital development agency supported by Arts Council England.  Fiona Morris CEO and Creative Director of The Space said ‘Everyone at The Space wishes to congratulate the Atom and Luna teams on being nominated for such a prestigious European award. They have created a brilliant AR environment which engages young minds in language and storytelling and we wish them the very best in showcasing their work on an international stage’.

Thanks to funding from Arts Council England all the work we have done on The Chronicles of Atom and Luna - including the audio tales, the education programmes and of course Quest for Old Mother Redbeard are available to download free of charge from funnelwicklimb.com.

And the story is on going - right now we are developing Chronicle 3 and 4!  To find out more about how the story will unfurl - sign up to the Funnelwick Limb newsletter here at www.funnelwicklimb.com
