Atom

Chileya is a Zambian born actor, playwright and director. She is an associate artist at the Mercury Theatre, Colchester, where she recently completed their playwriting program and has previously completed their Mercury creatives program. She is an NYT member and a Fourth Monkey alumni.

Luna

Victoria Chen (she/they) is an actor who initially studied at the School of the Arts in Singapore, and went on to train professionally at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Although she has worked mostly in her native Singapore, she has also performed and studied internationally in the UK, USA, China, Australia and even Iceland. She excels in devised and interactive theatre.

Most recently, she played “Amber” in two-hander 'The Night Before Christmas' (Polka Theatre); and Celia/Silvius in the Orange Tree Theatre’s child-friendly adaptation of 'As You Like It'.

Notably, Victoria starred in sketch comedy 'Fat Kids are Harder to Kidnap' from 2013 - 2022. Directed by Melissa Sim, the show has toured internationally (and digitally during the pandemic) to critical acclaim, being nominated for Best Theatre Production at the Melbourne Fringe 2020.

At that same festival, Victoria was awarded Best Emerging Artist for her solo, interactive, improvised piece 'Charlie'. This production also netted her the Best Performing Artist award at the 2017 Edinburgh Student Arts Festival.

Old Mother Redbeard

Actress and singer for three decades, Kate has performed in many genres of theatre all over the UK. Recent credits include filming with Omid Djalili and Tiny Speck/Nest Productions on a TV sitcom pilot, performer/puppeteer in Me… (Little Angel Theatre/Mercury Theatre), The Headway Play (Packing Shed), Nurse in R4J-Romeo & Juliet (Civic, Chelmsford), Sarah in The Gift, June Salter in The Hay Wain (both Castle Park Theatre) and site-specific work with Suffolk’s Footprints Theatre Company.

Kate has recently provided voice for In Her Shoes (Blown Fuse), Bring Back Chainmail (F.I.T), The Multitude (Collusion), for audio drama/audiobooks including 1954 for Packing Shed and short stories for Audible and B7 Media.

Alongside her husband Michael Parker, as a vocalist Kate regularly works in musical and soundscape composition as At Swefn's Edge. She penned the script, music and lyrics for the children’s stage show King Coel’s Curtains for Castle Park Theatre. At Swefn’s Edge have collaborated extensively with many creatives based in Essex and the South-East including Blown Fuse, Astraea (Pretty Things), 1954/ All the Park’s a Stage (Packing Shed), Skinned (Spinning Yarns) and as co-producers with APL Theatre/Harlow Playhouse for the digital festival Voicebox during the pandemic.

As well as a performer, Kate is a primary school teacher, trained independent celebrant and gong practitioner. She was fortunate to be a part of the Early Career Training, Entrepreneurs and Creatives programmes offered by Mercury Theatre, Colchester.

Kate enhanced her puppetry skills at Little Angel Theatre. A constant source of delight, puppetry has often featured in her work especially alongside oral storytelling performances and sessions as Fallen Moon.

Iffly Sney

Alex is originally from Scotland, but now lives with his husband and two whippets in Tasmania, 17,390km away. Alex loves nature, especially botany (plants), mycology (fungi), and mountains, and Tasmania has lots of all of those, as well as echidnas and platypus (and snakes) that visit his garden regularly.

Murray Lachlan Young is a British poet, stand-up performer, broadcaster, playwright, screenwriter and children’s author. He came to prominence during the Brit Pop era of the mid 1990’s, when he became the only poet to sign a contract worth £1m. His work echoes the great rhymers Edward Lear, Lewis Carroll and Gilbert and Sullivan, along with more alternative influences such as Grandmaster Flash, Tom Waits and Ian Drury. His satirical commentaries can read like RD Laing in their philosophical intensity, whilst their subjects range from the vanities of celebrity and middle-class angst, to highlighting the absurdities of modern life. A regular contributor to the BBC he is also often found touring the UK with his solo stand-up shows and the collection of his work ‘How Freakin’ Zeitgeist are you?’, published by Unbound books.

Chris creates immersive audio experiences for schools with the award-winning company Now Press Play, and recently wrote and presented a 4-part documentary on music education in the UK which is now available on Spotify. Recent theatre production include: From Rushmere With Love, Booming Voices, Streets Alive (Eastern Angles); Blue Stockings, Sadie (Lyric Belfast, BBC4). As sound designer, arranger, orchestrator and producer, recent Film and Television work includes Blackwater Mermaids (BBC Radio 4 Extra, BBC Sounds), The Ipcress File (ITV), and The Mauritanian (BBC Films). Recent albums include Immersive Stories, co-composed and produced with Sue Verran and Dame Evelyn Glennie, and Wonders of The Cosmos, recorded on location at Ely Cathedral and Abbey Road Studios, both of which are available on Spotify and other streaming platforms.

Matthew Linley is a creative producer and freelance arts manager. Recent work includes The Ballad of Maria Marten (with Eastern Angles), The Mystery of the Raddlesham Mumps (for Funnelwick Limb) and the UK tour of Nina a story about me and Nina Simone (with Unity Theatre / Riksteatern). He was Interim Administration Director and Capital Projects Manager for New Wolsey Theatre through lockdown. He is the former Artistic Director and CEO of Unity Theatre, Liverpool and a former General Manager for Eastern Angles. He has also led venues in Leicester (Phoenix Arts), Reading (21 South Street) and Bath (Michael Tippett Centre). Alongside The Chronicles of Atom and Luna current work includes Little Red (for Eastern Angles and Theatre Porto) and a new work from Anders Lustgarten in co production with Riksteatern (Sweden).

Director for the 2022 show

Nina is the Creative Director for Funnelwick Limb and previously directed The Mystery of Raddlesham Mumps, written by Murray and produced by Matthew. For The Chronicles of Atom and Luna Nina will continue her strong creative relationship with Murray as both director and dramaturg (having led on the previous R&D and digiral development). Nina is one of the UK's leading theatre directors for families and young people, and is Artistic Director of Theatre Porto (previously Action Transport Theatre). based in Ellesmere Port. For Theatre Porto, she has recently been leading a multi million capital reinvention of their building, now transformed into it a state of the art theatre and cultural centre for children and young people, In fact, Atom and Luna will be the first live public performances in the new venue Nina has also recently directed Baba Yaga by Laura Lindow, for Theatre Porto and Theatre Hullabaloo - touring autumn 2023. Other work for Theatre Porto includes Adrift, Statik and the ground breaking Happily Ever After, a primary school show in which two princes fall in love and marry. She has directed 7 seasonal shows for ATT and Unity Theatre, including the acclaimed Little Red and the Big Bad Wolf (2016) which was revived as the Christmas show for Z arts (Manchester) and The Brewery (Kendall) in 2017 before touring nationally in 2018. The show will be remounted again for audiences in Ipswich and Peterborough in 2022/3. Farrell Cox is a physical actor, aerialist and theatre maker Farrell trained at Dell Arte International, East15 Acting School and under renowned clown Philippe Gaulier. Farrell has performed nationally and internationally in her career working with companies including: The gramophones, Blumhouse, Tangled Feet, Glyndebourne Opera, The RSC, Hot Brown Honey, Mimbre Acrobats, HBO, Samsung, Les Enfants Terribles and London Olympic 2012 Ceremonies to name a few. As a theatre maker Farrell has a circus theatre show ‘ Ambivalence’ which tells the story of a woman’s journey of her unsaid thoughts through pages of her diary experiencing psychosis and navigating through the world. questioning: what is worth living for? As a multiskilled and disciplined artist, Farrell always brings energy and enthusiasm to their performance work.

Fran Burgoyne Fran Burgoyne is an actor and voice artist. Recent stage work includes Baba Yaga (Theatre Hullabaloo & Action Transport Theatre) and Lemons, Lemons, Lemons, Lemons, Lemons (Stonecrabs Theatre Co / Southwark Playhouse). Other theatre includes Three Sisters (Union Theatre), Heartbreak House (Union Theatre), the youngest of the Railway Children and the oldest wife in Communicating Doors (Leatherhead and Swanage Rep), and the world’s worst tour guide in the ground-breaking immersive show Madhouse Re:Exit (Access All Area’s). An award-winning audiobook narrator, she can often be found talking to herself in a soundproof box.

Actor

Becca Bindang is an Actor-Musician and Singer-Songwriter based in Brighton. She made her professional theatre debut in Told by an Idiot's Get Happy in 2021 and is delighted to be part of Funnelwick Limb team for The Chronicles of Atom and Luna. In 2020, she was an actor in an adaptation of 'Divine Words' by Valle-Inclán directed by Stephen Harper, in which she also took on the role of composer/songwriter for the project with her writing partner Jessica Debenham. In 2021, both Becca and Jessica were commissioned again to write and compose the music for ICTheatre's 3rd year production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' directed by Stephen Harper. Alongside commissioned songwriting, Becca and Jess are currently working on an original musical that is set to enter its research and development stage in spring 2023.
